    A little bit about me.....

My name is Danae, and although my name originates from Greek Mythology; I was actually born and raised in Asturias, Spain. Over the past 25 years I have been a clinician working in diverse settings around the world and offering multi cultural and lingual therapeutic services. These services have included providing culturally sensitive training, and social-emotional education to academic staff, first responders, and medical providers. I have led intergenerational communication trainings for management working in corporate America, as well as have served in boards to establish new legislation impacting individuals with mental illness.

As a clinician I provide evidence based treatments including cognitive behavioral, solution focused, mindfulness based stress reduction, and compassion focused therapy. In addition to these practices, I incorporate an art as therapy treatment for those that find communicating verbally intimidating. I have several specializations, including one in child/adolescent mental health; and another one in trauma focused best practices. Over the past year, I have been incorporating indigenous knowledge and respectful design into my work with the tribal members in South America.

In my direct work with individuals, there is a mutual understanding that the client knows what is best for them and my job is just to help declutter the path to their healing. I like to use intention based strategies when working with couples to help eliminate conflicts generating from poor communication.

The use of Internal Family Systems, also known as parts therapy has been one of the primary practices I utilized with individuals suffering from vicarious trauma. Often, my clients find that completing after session exercises helps improve their symptoms; therefore, there are optional homework assignments and readings recommended after each session.
